What came to be known as the Ketef Hinnom Silver Scrolls were found in 1979 at an archaeological site southwest of the Old City of Jerusalem. One source states that this find (in terms of biblical studies) is "one of most significant discoveries ever made . . . [and the scrolls] preserve the earliest known citations of texts also found in the Hebrew Bible and ... the earliest examples of confessional statements concerning Yahweh [Jehovah]."
